Mike Milligan and The Altar Boyz are a 5 piece R & B soul band with a Louisiana feel. Their songs range from get down-gut bucket type blues as heard on ‘Walk a Mile’ to the heart string touches of ‘Forever’. ‘Run Daddy Run’ is a story telling upbeat funk groove that rocks your shoes and much the same can be said for ‘Don’t Mistreat Me’. The tune ‘Voodoo Lover’ takes the listener on a stroll through the black magic streets of New Orleans, looking for lost lovers. To keep you up and moving, the driving song ‘Walking Spell’ delivers a foot stomping romp that compliments the frolicking rumba ‘Up in Here’. Reminiscent of Magic Sam, ‘Lonely When She Dies’ fills the listener with a tempting story line. ‘Where Is Your Comfort’ brings you full circle in a one night love affair only to end with the radio ready number ‘Lucinda’. All songs are original and describe the many different shades of song skills.
Mike Milligan and The Altar Boyz can be described as ‘Texas blues with a Louisiana attitude’, but they really have a very unique sound that is theirs alone. You’ll find yourself singing along and grooving to the CD ‘Going Up’ as naturally as dancing to the moonlight on the beach.
